Materials You Will Need
Box cake mix and ingredients to make it.
Bread Loaf Pan
Card board
Tin Foil
1 can of chocolate frosting
Candy Jewelry(rings, necklaces, candy coins, M&Ms and Jolly Ranchers make great jewels) or Play Jewelry
How To Make It
Step 1:
Mix Cake according to box directions. Pour it into a well greased and floured loaf pan, filling it 3/4 of the way to the top, you want it to rise above the edges. When toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, take it out of the oven. Let cool for 10 mins in pan. Slide a butter knife along edge of pan to loosen. Take the cake out of the pan, cool completely.
Step 2:
While the cake is cooling, cut a peice of cardboard the same size as the top of the bread pan. Wrap in foil.
Step 3:
When the cake is completly cool, carefully slice the domed top off place it on foiled wrapped card board.
Step 4:
Frost the sides and top of bottom of cake and the domed top of the cake with the chocolate frosting.
Step 5:
On the top of the bottom portion start stacking your jewels, and candies.
Step 6:
To set up, carefully lean the domed part card board against the back of the treasure chest like it had been pushed off.
Helpful Tip For Parents
To display this cake cover a cookie sheet with tin foil, crush some graham crackers to make "sand". Pile the cracker sand in the center of the pan, place the bottom portion of the cake in the center of the crackers. Prop the lid as suggested. Throw a few jewels askew on the pan, and you have a perfect treasure chest cake.
