Jar Full Of Love Valentine Party Activity
This is an amazing gift. But it is also a learning game, if you so choose. We gave these for christmas last year, they were a big hit. My preschooler wanted to make them for everyone, and was so proud he could pick out the letters. It is really fun to do.
Materials You Will Need
Quart Size Canning Jars with Lids
Fabric
Pinking Sheers
Ribbon
Filler Items (item for each letter of the word you are spelling)
How To Make It
Step 1:
Cut a 5" circle out of the fabric with pinking sheers. Set aside.
Step 2:
Go to List of Filler Items. And pick out items for each letter of the word or name you are spelling. Example: For M-O-T-H-E-R. This is where you ask for your preschoolers help to find the item that starts with the "m" sound. The "o" sound. It becomes a game.
Step 3:
Pour your items into the jar, last letter first. For "mother", you would start with the "r". For "Angel" you would start with the "l". Ect. Try and make equal amounts of each letter. This is not an exact science, but a quart holds about 4 cups.
Step 4:
Once your items are in the jar, put the lid on. Place the fabric circle over the lid and tie on with ribbon.
Step 5:
Type out the list of the letter and the description, roll it into a tube and tie it to the jar.
Helpful Tips For Parents
This can be a fun game for preschoolers. I also worked on counting with my preschooler and measuring with my second grader. It became a whole family project. You do not have to use the items on my list. You can come up with your own items that start with the same letter.
