Buy at Art.comSet your family dinner upon your own family tree. No two are exactly the same, because there is only one of you. Something fun for your preschooler to make. And the beauty is they are learning about where they came from. Everyone in the family can make one. They are fun and easy.

Materials You Will Need

White Construction Paper (11" X 14")
Green Construction Paper - any size
Brown Construction Paper - any size
Glue
Pens
Scissors (regular and decorative edge)
Clear Contact Paper

How To Make It

Step 1: Cut out 7 - 3" tall hearts in green paper, and ONE brown rectangle.

Step 2: Turn your hearts upside down, so the points are on top. On each heart write the following
*The name of the person the place mat is for(1)
*The name of that persons parents (2)
*The name of the mothers parents(2) and the fathers parents(2)

Step 3: Begin by gluing the heart shape of the person the place mat is for at the top. Under that, glue that person’s parents. Under that, glue the grandparents. The result is a triangle shape tree.

Step 4: Glue the rectangle at the bottom, making it the trunk to your tree.

Step 5: Cut a piece of contact paper large enough to cover the whole paper. Remove the backing and stick on top of your whole paper. Turn over and repeat with back.

Step 6: Trim all the way around the outside of paper with decorative edge scissors.

Helpful Tips For Parents

You may let the person decorate the back of their paper too, so it is a two sided placemat. This is a great opportunity to explain that you are your preschoolers mommy or daddy and that their grandparents are your mommy and daddy.
